The Washington Huskies wrapped up the number one seed followed by UCLA, Arizona St., and Cal. The 2009 Pac-10 Championship game will take place on Sunday.

The Pac-10 hopes to earn at least four bids to the NCAA tournament and the 2009 Pac-10 conference tournament will go a long way in giving the NCAA tournament committee a clear picture of who those teams should be.

While Washington and UCLA finished with the same overall record of 24-5, the Huskies edged UCLA in conference play by one game. Washington won five in a row to cap off a historic season. Arizona St. struggled mightily down the stretch losing three in a row, including two in overtime, before finishing out the season by crushing the University of California.

Washington will play the winner of Oregon St. and Stanford on Thursday. Stanford lost by only eight points total in those two match-ups. It should be interesting to see if the Huskies can win three games in one season against them.

UCLA, the unanimous favorite before the season began, has not lived up to potential but they have won in a row and will face the winner of the Washington St/Oregon matchup. The Bruins were defeated by Washington St. recently and want to avenge that loss. They beat Oregon handily last week.

Arizona St. faces Arizona in what could be the game-of-the-tournament. Arizona needs to win at least a game or two to earn a bid for the tournament. Currently, they are on the outside of the bubble looking in. Which Arizona team will show up? The one that won seven in a row or the one that lost four in a row immediately after that? Arizona St. needs another signature win to solidify a good seed in the NCAA tournament. They do not want to face a top-team in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
