2009 Big East Conference Tournament Schedule
Men's Basketball Championship Begins Tuesday
In season's past, the agony of learning one's fate in the Big East Conference began in early-March, if not earlier in the season. After all, the two teams with the worst record in the league were exonerated from the embarrassment of suffering yet another loss.
This season is different. Every team, even the DePaul Blue Demons, 0-18 in regular season in conference play, will have a chance to win the Big East Tournament. If they won tournament, it may be the biggest upset in sports history. Perhaps, if they win a game or two, that may constitute the most surprising turn of events of the college basketball year.

2009 NCAA Tournament Schedule
The annual tournament is holding its first Tuesday Big East Conference Tournament games this season due to the addition of the two last-place teams, the other being Rutgers with a 2-16 conference record. The change may give favorites, the top-four teams with the best regular season records, an advantage because they will receive a double-bye; they will not play until Thursday. So any hope of a Cinderella winning five games in a row is minute, at best. In previous years, teams that played on Wednesday had a feasible chance to play in the championship game if they got hot at the right time.
Winning four games in a row in four days in a row is a feat, achieving five in five is as close to impossible as there is. Last season, Pitt won the tournament after winning four games in a row.
